Signs Your Sewer Line Needs Attention

Repeated backups in the basement floor drain, gurgling toilets, several slow drains at once, a sewage smell outside, or a soggy patch in the yard all point to a problem in the main line. In older New Jersey neighborhoods the usual causes are tree roots getting into clay pipe joints, cast iron that has rusted through, and Orangeburg pipe that has flattened over time.

Repair or Replace?

Not every sewer problem needs a full replacement. If the camera shows one broken section and the rest of the pipe is sound, a spot repair can be the right call. If the line has multiple breaks, has sagged, or is made of Orangeburg, replacing it usually costs less over time than repairing it again and again. We show you the camera footage so you can see the condition of the pipe for yourself.

Sewer laterals in New Jersey are usually the homeowner’s responsibility from the house to the town connection, and work in the street typically requires a municipal road opening permit. We take care of the permits and inspections as part of the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should a sewer line be replaced?

When the camera shows multiple cracks, a collapse, heavy root intrusion, or a sagging section that holds waste. Orangeburg and badly corroded cast iron lines are usually replaced rather than repaired.

How much does it cost to fix a collapsed sewer line?

Cost depends on the depth and length of the line, the surface above it (lawn, driveway, or street), and permit requirements. We inspect the line with a camera first and then give you a free written estimate.

Can I replace my sewer line myself?

In New Jersey, sewer line work requires a licensed plumber, a permit, and an inspection, and excavation near utility lines needs a call to NJ One Call first. It is not a do-it-yourself project.

Do you do commercial sewer line work?

Yes. We have replaced sewer lines for restaurants and commercial kitchens, including grease line work, as well as for homes.

4 out of 5 stars

"Contrary to some of the big brand plumbing agencies that are spread throughout NJ and charge big $$$ for their services, Titan seems to be a smaller individually run business that did the same work with satisfactory results at a considerably lower cost. They took the effort to answer all the questions and concerns without being pushy."
